An American pen maker founded in 1912 by Walter A. Sheaffer in Fort Madison, Iowa, credited with inventing the lever-filler fountain pen.

About Sheaffer

Walter A. Sheaffer founded his pen company in 1912 in the back room of his jewelry store in Fort Madison, Iowa, built around his patented lever-filling mechanism that let a pen draw ink with a single flick rather than messy eyedroppers. The idea grew a seven-employee workshop into a plant that had produced 50 million pens by 1951.

The brand is remembered for landmark designs like the Balance and the Snorkel, and for its signature white dot insignia, a mark of quality that still defines Sheaffer's fountain pens, ballpoints and writing sets today.
