About Royal Selangor
Founded in Kuala Lumpur in 1885 by pewtersmith Yong Koon, who travelled from China's tin-rich Shantou region and began hand-casting ceremonial pieces for local temples and homes, the workshop later turned to export ware and earned a royal warrant from the Sultan of Selangor in 1979, taking the Royal Selangor name in 1992.
Today it stands as the world's largest pewter manufacturer, known for hand-finished tankards, vases and collectibles cast, hammered and polished using techniques passed down from Yong Koon's original workshop.
