Before You Submit
The single most useful thing a seller can do before consigning a bag is resist the urge to make it look newer than it is. Buyers of pre-owned luxury expect honest wear — what erodes trust, and can complicate a sale, is condition that's been visually altered or overstated at the point of submission.
That doesn't mean submit a bag dirty or neglected. It means the goal of preparation is presentation, not disguise.
Cleaning: Less Is More
A gentle wipe-down with a dry or barely-damp microfiber cloth is almost always the right amount of at-home cleaning. Avoid household cleaning products, baby wipes, or leather conditioners you haven't used before — the wrong product on the wrong leather can cause discoloration that's considerably harder to fix than the dust it was meant to remove.
If a bag needs real restoration, that's genuinely better handled by professionals after authentication, not attempted at home beforehand. Over-cleaning is one of the more common ways a seller unintentionally reduces a bag's value before it's even assessed.
The sellers who do best are the ones who show us the truth up front. It's always faster than finding it ourselves.
Our Consignment TeamGathering What You Have
Original box, dust bag, authenticity card, and any care booklets all help — but their absence is not disqualifying. If you have the original purchase receipt, even an old one, include it; it's useful supporting context, particularly for less common or vintage pieces.
Any documentation of prior professional repairs is worth including too. Repaired-and-documented is generally viewed more favorably than undisclosed damage discovered later.
Photographing a Bag for Remote Submission
If you're submitting photos ahead of physically sending the item, lighting matters more than camera quality. Natural, indirect daylight shows true leather colour and surface condition far more accurately than flash or warm indoor lighting.
Photograph the exterior from multiple angles, the interior lining, the base/corners where wear concentrates, all hardware close up, and any flaws you're aware of directly and clearly.
